There are several reasons why someone might choose to undergo tooth whitening.

  1. Aesthetic Improvement: The most common reason is to enhance the appearance of their teeth. Tooth whitening can remove discoloration, resulting in a brighter and more attractive smile.
  2. Boosted Confidence: Whiter teeth often lead to increased self-confidence. People who are self-conscious about the color of their teeth may find that whitening helps them feel more comfortable and confident in social and professional settings.
  3. Special occasions: some individuals may choose tooth whitening before a special event like a wedding, graduation, or even a job interview.

If you think tooth whitening may be something you would like more information on, please contact our practice and book in for a consultation with your dentist.

Here at Pearl Dental Studios, we offer “at-home” tooth whitening, which includes tooth whitening trays and gels.

This dental procedure will require three or more visits.

  1. Before beginning the procedure, your dentist will examine your teeth and gums to ensure they are healthy and suitable for whitening. They will also discuss your expectations, potential results, and costs. Your dentist may ask you to visit a dental hygienist prior to this appointment to help remove some staining and calculus.
  2. In this appointment, your dentist will take photographs of your teeth to track progress alongside dental impressions in order to make the clear whitening trays. These impressions are sent to a laboratory, and a custom tray is made for your mouth.
  3. Once custom trays have been made, we then show you how to insert whitening gel onto trays in the comfort of your own home at your own pace. We will advise on how long you will need to wear the trays.
  4. Once the recommended time has come (usually 2 weeks), you will need to visit us again for post-treatment care. In this appointment, we will take more pictures, assess them against the previous pictures we took, and show you the progress. Once you are happy with the outcome, we recommend that you carry on “at-home whitening” around every 4–6 months with 1 week of tray wearing in order to sustain your new white smile.
